Hugh Mundell - Discografía

Hugh Mundell (1962 - 1983) fue un artista de reggae de Jamaica.
Hugh fué introducido al reggae por un vecino de su familia , el artista y productor de reggae Boris Gardiner. Con la asistencia de Gardiner, Hugh grabó su primer sencillo "Where is Natty Dread?" con la producción de Joe Gibbs, a la edad de 13 años.
Un adolescente prodigio, grabó "África Must Be Free By 1983" a la edad de 16 años. El álbum recibió cinco estrellas de la revista Rolling Stone. Aunque fue producido por Augustus Pablo, Mundell escribió todas las canciones, con lo que se ganó el apodo de "The Blessed Youth" (La Santísima Juventud).
Mundell registró varios 12 "singles bajo el alias de Jah Levi.
Lo que parecía probablemente una brillante carrera, se vio truncada cuando Mundell fue muerto a tiros cuando viajaba en automovil con Junior Reid en Kingston en 1983. Las crónicas de los hechos son confusos, con algunos informes que hablan de una discusión sobre una nevera, otros que era en venganza por un robo con allanamiento de morada, otros que fue por una mujer.
En el momento de su muerte, con tan solo 21 años de edad, Hugh Mundell había producido 5 discos y numerosos singles.
